The key point
Black oil and a front-and-rear circuit are documented; a wider repair is proposed, without a complete final test or long-term outcome in the clip.

Sifu White explains what happened
Prices, repair times and warranty terms mentioned in the video applied at the time. Ask the workshop about current arrangements.
What is wrong with this car? The customer came from Seremban. Three months earlier, another workshop replaced the compressor and condenser, but the repair lasted only three months. The air-conditioning failed again and the oil in the system had turned black. This vehicle is more complicated to repair. Many people replace only the condenser and compressor because that is easier, but this car has a dual air-conditioning unit with piping extending to the rear. The piping, rear cooling coil and front cooling coil were not removed and cleaned.
Removing the front cooling coil involves considerable work and is not easy. Some people prefer a simple, quick job and replace only the compressor and condenser, leaving the customer with a repair that lasts just three months. We will carry out the job properly and provide a one-year warranty for this repair.
How contamination changes the repair scope
Refrigerant and lubricant travel through several components. Debris from internal compressor wear can therefore create a problem beyond the compressor itself. Installing a replacement while contamination remains in circulation can expose the replacement to the same problem. The investigation should distinguish the source of damage, the spread of contamination and the condition of components that might still be serviceable. Neither “compressor only” nor “replace everything” is a complete diagnosis on its own.
Whether flushing is appropriate depends on component construction, contamination and the manufacturer’s procedure. Fine passages and trapped debris can be difficult to clean reliably. Compressors, driers and metering devices cannot simply be treated as open lengths of pipe during flushing. Oil colour is one observation, but colour alone does not measure moisture content or establish that every component has failed. An itemised explanation should identify what needs replacement, what can be cleaned, and the evidence behind each decision.
What to compare before repairing or replacing a part
A similar shape, a logo or a seller’s use of “original”, “OEM” or “recon” does not establish suitability on its own. Model, year, engine configuration, part number and connections need matching. Supply traceability, actual condition and warranty terms are separate checks. New components still need inspection before and after installation, while used components need particular attention to their history and the basis on which they have been tested.
The value of a component repair also depends on the assembly’s internal condition and the availability of suitable repair parts. An external clutch fault can require a different solution from internal wear or contamination. Compare labour, related system work, the possibility of having to dismantle the assembly again and written coverage as well as the part price. Prices, turnaround times and warranties mentioned in a historical video do not automatically apply to another vehicle.
What to tell the workshop about your own car
You do not need to guess a part name first. A clear description of what actually happens is often more useful for reproducing the complaint than requesting a particular replacement.
- Ask for an itemised scope separating contamination work from leak repair.
- Bring earlier quotations, part numbers and warranty records.
- Include the model, year, recent repairs and what changed before or after the symptom began.
Questions owners ask
Does compressor failure require replacing the whole system?
Not automatically. Wear, contamination, leaks and the ability to clean a component determine the scope. A sound component is not defective merely because it belongs to the same circuit.
Is buying a cheaper part and paying for fitting always cheaper?
Compare the total cost and who handles a problem. Incorrect fitment, a defective part or repeat dismantling can erase the price saving. Confirm compatibility, inspection and after-sales arrangements before buying.
