The key point
Compressor behaviour and blower vibration were considered separately. Closing selected ducts was an owner-chosen functional compromise.

This is another Porsche Cayenne 958 with the dashboard removed. Two airflow outlets or flaps in the HVAC casing are faulty. The customer asks whether an unused passage can be closed because the original solution requires replacement of small servo motors in that area.
The video states that one small original servo motor costs more than RM9,000 and that two units may need replacement. The customer says the function is not important to him and requests an alternative, so we agree to use foam seals to close the unused passages. Another main problem is that after extended driving, the air-conditioning suddenly turns into warm air.
The symptom is not weakening airflow and is not cooling-coil freezing; the air genuinely becomes warm. Testing confirms a compressor fault, and the customer selects a suitable replacement compressor. Another issue is a blower motor that vibrates and makes noise at high speed, so we recommend an original blower motor.
China-made blower motors are available, but Sifu White has tried them and still experienced vibration on this car, so an original unit is preferable. Condenser replacement also requires removal of the radiator and several front components. We have dismantled all of these for the job.
Why a working refrigerant circuit can still deliver warm air
After the refrigerant circuit cools the air, doors, ducts and temperature controls still have to direct it correctly. Depending on the vehicle, temperature regulation may involve mixing warm and cool air or controlling the heater circuit. One warm side, a hot rear outlet or a change at one particular setting calls for checks of air distribution and heater control as well as the refrigerant side.
A motorised door can stick at a particular position, and a mechanical linkage can become detached. A fault limited to one setting can be missed if testing uses only the default settings. The absence of a code also does not rule out mechanical sticking. Save the temperature, zone and airflow-mode settings that trigger the problem so the technician can reproduce it and compare commanded movement with what actually happens.
Air delivery and refrigeration are different checks
The blower moves air; the cabin filter, ducts and evaporator surface affect how freely it can pass. Even when the refrigerant circuit can cool, a restricted filter, blower fault or leaking air seal can make the cabin feel uncomfortable. Ask both whether the volume of air has fallen and whether its temperature has risen. These observations separate an air-delivery problem from a refrigeration problem and help avoid unrelated parts replacement.
If only particular fan speeds are affected, the motor and that vehicle’s speed-control arrangement need attention. If every speed feels weak, the inlet and ducts also deserve inspection. Noise, vibration and overheated connectors are separate clues to report. After replacement, checking that the motor spins is only a first step: the fan speeds, outlets, mounting and seals also need checking. A high fan setting is a designed function, not evidence by itself that an owner has misused the system.
What to tell the workshop about your own car
You do not need to guess a part name first. A clear description of what actually happens is often more useful for reproducing the complaint than requesting a particular replacement.
- Note the affected side or row, temperature setting and airflow mode.
- Identify affected fan speeds or outlets and mention any noise.
- Include the model, year, recent repairs and what changed before or after the symptom began.
Questions owners ask
Does one warm side prove a cooling-coil fault?
No. Air doors, actuators, heater control and refrigerant condition can also be relevant. Zone settings and physical tests are needed to distinguish them.
Will a new cabin filter always restore airflow?
It addresses the problem when the filter is actually restricting airflow. Blower, regulator, duct, sealing or icing faults may still need separate attention.
